Getting There

Our wedding will take place in Belgium at the Valke Vleug Winery in Puurs-Sint-Amands, just outside of Antwerp (which is where we recommend guests to stay).

If you’re flying in from abroad, the easiest option is to arrive at Brussels Airport (BRU) — it’s the main international airport in Belgium. From there, you’ll find a train station directly beneath the airport with frequent trains to Antwerp Central Station (about a 30-ish minute ride).

Once you arrive in Antwerp, you can easily take a taxi, Uber, or even walk to your hotel or accommodation since it’s a pretty small and very walkable city.
In general, Antwerp is fairly safe, just use the same common sense you would in any big city. Keep an eye on your belongings in busy spots, and you’ll be perfectly fine exploring day or night.

Where to Stay

For everyone traveling in, we recommend staying in the center of Antwerp. It’s full of great restaurants, shops, and cafés — and it’s where we’ll have a shuttle bus to take guests to and from the wedding venue.

We’ve also reserved a hotel block at Hotel Franq, which will serve as the shuttle pick-up point. If you’d like to be close to where most people are staying (and where the buses leave from), we highly recommend booking a room there through our booking link.

That said, we know everyone’s priorities and budgets are different, so please feel free to choose whichever option suits you best.

For Our Local Guests

For our guests coming from within Belgium, who prefer to stay nearby for the night, Villa Tartine is a lovely bed and breakfast only a short walk from the wedding venue.

Things to Do in Antwerp

If you’re spending a bit of time in Antwerp before or after the wedding, there’s plenty to explore! The city is full of art, design, and great food and because of it’s central location it’s the perfect home base for some fun day trips.

Here’s just a few ideas of what to do in Antwerp:

  • Discover the old town
Take a walk through the streets of Antwerp’s historic center, passing by landmarks like the Grote Markt and the Cathedral, and make sure to stop by charming squares like Hendrik Conscienceplein.

  • Take in some of the Art

Antwerp does not have a shortage of art museums, The Royal Museum of Fine Arts (KMSK) showcases an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings from the 14th to 20th centuries. For modern and contemporary art, check out MKHA and galleries like Tim Van Laere and De Zwarte Panter.

  • Antique shopping in the Kloosterstraat

home to numerous antique shops and design boutiques like Studio Henk, perfect for finding unique treasures.

  • Take a stroll through Het Groen Kwartier (The Green Quarter)

Nestled on the grounds of a former 19th-century military hospital, Het Groen Kwartier is a charming neighborhood that perfectly blends history and modern creativity. It’s also the home of PAKT, a repurposed industrial site filled with restaurants, creative businesses, and the local coffee roaster Caffenation among others.

  • Explore the architecture in Zurenborg

A short stroll away, you’ll find the elegant Zurenborg district, famed for its stunning Art Nouveau and fin de siècle mansions that showcase Antwerp’s architectural heritage at its finest.

  • Taste the Magic of Belgian Chocolate at Chocolate Nation

It’s no secret Belgium is famous for its chocolate, so of course Antwerp has a dedicated chocolate museum! Chocolate Nation is one of Morgan’s favorites, a fun and delicious way to dive into the country’s rich chocolate heritage.

  • Walk across the St. Anna’s Tunnel
It has wooden escalators, built in the 1930s, that transport you to a pedestrian walkway about 100 feet under the Scheldt River, connecting its two banks.

Our Favorite Bars & Restaurants

We couldn’t resist sharing some of our favorite spots to eat and drink in Antwerp — from cozy wine bars to our go-to bakeries and dinner spots. A few highlights from our Antwerp map:

  • Bakkerij Funk

  • Andy Roasters

  • Album

Set in the heart of the Zuid neighborhood, Album is the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch. Share a variety of small plates and don’t miss their amazing sourdough bread.

  • Veranda

One of Morgan and Gilles’ top picks in Antwerp, Veranda is tucked away in the former meatpacking district. It offers a beautifully curated tasting menu, complemented by one of the best and deepest wine lists in all of Europe. A definite must-visit!

  • Osaka

A constantly-evolving menu of small plates and snacks served in a sleek, industrial space. Grab a bottle of natural wine from their fridge, and you’re guaranteed a good time.

There are way too many places to list here, so to make things easier, we’ve put together a Google Map with pins for all the places mentioned above — plus a ton of extra recommendations we love.
